"On continuity" is a three-day seminar that addresses the question of how we deal with the specific notions of time and space with regard to a work of art.

INTRODUCTION Florian Schneider
The exhibition format, film and video, as well as networked environments are characterized by very different understandings of the production of synthetic time and consistent space. The coherency of these concepts and the continuity that results from it carry a huge potential: In the end it is what makes us believe in a work of art, what makes us wonder, question or doubt. And it may even lead us to accept or reject a piece and its presentation on the art market, in the art world or art history.

WORKSHOP Praneet Soi and Florian Schneider
After a series of two lectures, a few screenings, short readings and discussions the seminar will open up and connect to very practical questions that were raised by the research trip to Calcutta earlier this year.
Praneet Soi, Amsterdam based artist from Calcutta, will join us for a workshop that deals with the material collected during the research trip.
How do we go on? How can we continue to work with the material in a totally different context and what is the impact of it? This will be the starting point for expanding the project to Trondheim.
The seminar is open for all students no matter whether they have participated in the research trip to India and regardless if they would like to join a follow-up project. Signing up by email in advance would be very much appreciated!
