Images, sounds, words.
A one-day seminar held at Dokkhuset with the theme "Images, Sounds, Words". Arranged and introduced by Jeremy Welsh. Guest lectures by Heli Rekula, professor of photography at Bergen Academy of Art and Design, speaking about her recent exhibition and book "In Hemingway's Garden"; Daniela Cascella, researcher, author and critic based in London. Author of En Abime,a book and blog about writing and sound; Scott Rettberg, Professor of Digital Culture at the University of Bergen and an initiator of the international network for digital literature. The event includes an evening concert by London-based electronic music group The Langham Research Centre, featuring a work made in collaboration with Jeremy Welsh, "Muffled Cyphers", based on responses to the novel The Atrocity Exhibition by JG Ballard. The piece was first realised for the Only Connect festival of sound in Oslo, spring 2014, at Kunsthall Oslo. The seminar at Dokkhuset will begin at 10.30, finishing at 15.00. The evening concert will be at 20.00. Both events are free.
