Art and Common Space Lecture. Jason Havneraas: The Point of Meeting
Jason Havneraas (born in Aberdeen Scotland in 1978), is an Oslo based artist who graduated with an MFA from the art academy in Trondheim in 2006. He has exhibited widely in Norway and abroad including at Trønderlag Senter For Samtidskunst, Five Years Gallery, London, The INCA Institute, Detroit, USA, The Museum for Contemporary Art, Oslo and Fotogalleriet, Oslo.
Working with photography, video and performance, Havneraas engages with various communities and individuals as a means to explore, relate and attempt to reconcile his personal life and background with contemporary themes of alienation and isolation that he sees around him in today’s media saturated world.
On Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd of October, Havneraas will hold a lecture at Art in Common space, first presenting his personal practice, with an emphasis on meeting places as a departure point for making art. He will touch on many points including the conundrum of how, when we are making work about our relationship to others, can we begin to say when the work begins and when it ends, or even if it ever does either of these things? There will also be further screenings of several of Havneraas' videos.
