MFA 2nd year

Seminar leader: Associate Professor Michelle Teran
Location: 3rd floor MFA Hub
Seminar times: January 11th-12th, January 16th-17th, 10-13.

The seminar aims to provide an introduction to tools and techniques for writing in preparation for the mandatory written component of the final thesis project within the MFA program. The written component or critical reflection aims to provide knowledge and insight into the artwork. The writing is a process of self-reflection and talks about the development of the work and reflection of the results.

Students participating in the seminar will be introduced to techniques for building up a structure within their writing, and guidelines for how to read and give constructive feedback on writing by fellow students. Within the seminar we will read through and analyze different samples of critical writing, to gain insight into how methods used in writing can reflect methods used in artistic practice. Students are asked to bring examples of writing of how they would like to write, or writing that they align themselves with. Students will also be shown how to publish the written component of their thesis project on NTNU Open.

The seminar will be structured over two-day, three hour sessions, occurring twice during the month.
The times for all sessions are 10-13.

The writing seminar is for all master students who are in the final term of their studies. BFA3 students are also invited to participate in the writing seminar.
