Artistic Entrepreneurship
With various guests, inspirational lectures and practical exercises, we will explore and map past, present and future options and models of artistic endeavors and survival strategies. Sometimes it’s a mess from where we start building a structure. Therefore, failure and doubt is as important as audacity, risk taking and sustainable business plans. Understanding funding schemes and different expectations of funding institutions. A crisis can be the best starting point, to consider and re-imagine what could be done differently — and on this basis, develop an understanding of sustainability in all its aspects and dimensions. Conventional models and business as usual does not work anymore. How does entrepreneurship become artistic? What kind of ventures can artists undertake? Do entrepreneurs need artists? Can entrepreneurship be an artistic technique?
The course is partly organised as a lecture-series and open for all who are interested to join. Announcements about each session's themes and guests will be sent out, on a weekly basis. At the same time, we will work on proposals and develop practical models, imagine a complex enterprise, make business plans and create vocabularies. The broad goal is, to take the risk: ”This is not a project — it’s my life.” (Bernadette La Hengst)
